This summer, 4 families in Lee County participated in an 8-week long family cooking class facilitated by Voices into Action (http://voicesintoaction.org/) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). The class met weekly at the Lee County Cooperative Extension kitchen where adults and youth met in groups to learn about nutrition, food safety, and cooking skills. Participants were able to practice what they learned at the end of each class when each family would work together to cook a recipe. Families would bring home the food they prepared each week to enjoy with each other and other family members. Participants enjoyed the family time as well as the new recipes and skills that they learned during the class.
